The cost for a castle in these states after it has been renovated is still less than what you would pay for other projects in western Germany or in other regions of Europe.

They are castles which were built during the Renaissance and Baroque periods by old families who were often instrumental in the history of Europe. They were embellished in the elaborate style of these times, but their origins often go back to the 12th and 13th century.

The 100-acre park surrounding it was designed and built in 1821 in the style of an English country park with waterways, ponds and forest land. The castle is located within the city of Berlin near the horse racing track and the convention center, and within a short distance of Berlin's outer ring road. CASTEL SCHWEINSBURG - This castle looks back on a long history. It was first mentioned in 973 as a defensive post. In the 12th century a massive castle surrounded by a moat was built on this spot. In 1413 the castle and the territory went to the margraves of Meissen, member of the Wettin Dynasty, the oldest and one of the most powerful dynasties in Germany. The name Schweinsburg stems from the many wild boar that roamed the forests around the castle. Over the centuries the castle changed owners several times as it was mostly used for private purposes. From 1900 to 1908 it housed a pottery factory in one of the wings. However, growing dept forced the present owner to sell the castle to a wealthy yarn merchant from the nearby city of Zwickau who lived there until 1945 when the Russian army occupied the castle.
